Web hosting
Web hosting in New Zealand, explained simply.
What web hosting does, what NZ businesses need, and what Lightning includes from the start.
What is web hosting?
Web hosting is the service that keeps your website online so people can visit it. Your domain is the address they type, while hosting is where your website lives. You can move hosting without necessarily moving your domain registration or email.
Which plan do I need?
Thunder is NZ$55 + GST per month per website. Lightning is NZ$99 + GST per month and adds text updates with private previews and your approval. Both include AWS hosting, CloudFront CDN, SSL, platform security, free domain registration and DNS. Annual prepay is ten monthly payments for twelve months. All prices are plus GST. Scope is confirmed in your quote.
Who is Arc?
Arc is our website-update assistant. Choose your website and page, then tell Arc what to change. For a supported change, you get a private proof to review. You can revise the request, and publication starts immediately after approval. Draft revisions do not count as extra confirmed changes.
Where is my website hosted?
The first Lightning hosting platform runs on AWS in Sydney, Australia, with delivery through Amazon CloudFront. We provide NZ-dollar plans for New Zealand businesses; this does not mean the servers are physically in New Zealand. We confirm any special hosting or data-location requirements before setup.
What happens when I move?
Start with your current website address. We assess the site, agree the move or rebuild, help with access, and prepare a private preview. We check DNS and email dependencies before the switch. Hosting billing begins only when the website is live with us; an agreed rebuild is paid separately.
Can I leave or take my website with me?
Yes. Your website and supplied content remain yours. You can download the files and content we hold for you. Cancel renewal at any time, with the paid service available until the end of the period you have paid for. After a late-payment grace period, changes pause while hosting and downloads stay available.
